We have gathered online this evening to reflect on the 15th July failed coup in Turkey which transpired five years ago. We are very privileged this evening to have Sir Alan Duncan, whom many of us will remember, hit the news headlines by the fact that within a few days of the coup, he was on a plane to Ankara and many people appreciated that act of solidarity. We are also delighted to welcome the current Turkish Ambassador in London, H.E. Umit Yalcin, who for many years has been central to foreign policy in Turkey. And of course, the chairman of the Centre for British Turkish Understanding, Abdurrahim Boynukalin.all.
